Mr. Terry Newton attended Southwestern State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, with a minor in Biology.  After college he worked at a few different environmental laboratories in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  While working in the environmental lab at Tulsa, he returned to college to get a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Oklahoma State University.

In 2014, Mr. Newton became the Technology Director at Salina Public Schools while still teaching a few hours of high school chemistry. In 2015, he attended the Google Workspace for Education training in El Reno, Oklahoma to become certified to manage Google workspaces.  He has extensive training in developing firewalls, wireless access points, servers, and network switches to maintain the school’s network.

 At the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, Mr. Newton began working full-time as the school’s Technology Director. He enjoys sharing his knowledge of technology and working with administration, faculty and students.  His top priority is to make sure that all teachers have the technological resources available to help their students achieve their educational goals.  His past teaching experience is a strength for understanding how technology supports education outcomes. 

When Mr. Newton is not working, he enjoys fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He also raises goats and cattle on his farm. In addition to these activities, he likes to travel and explore historical landmarks throughout the United States.
